Eurovision has its glitter and gimmicks — but Eastbourne? We’ve got talent.
This is a community that sings in choirs, belts out musicals, plays in bands, performs at the drop of a hat, and knows a thing or two about delivering drama (on and off stage).
So this spring, MEGA has launched Eastbourne Unplugged — a local song contest that puts the spotlight where it belongs: on you.
Whether you're a seasoned songwriter or someone who rhymes in the shower, this is your chance to write the lyrics that make us laugh, think, cry, or tap our toes.
You send us your lyrics.
We turn the best into original songs and full video clips — complete with music, production, and just enough AI magic to keep it weird.
Then we gather for a live community event and screening night (venue TBC), where the town votes on which creation takes the crown.
Oh — and did we mention there’s $500 in prize money?
$300 goes to the winner, and $200 to a charity of their choice.
A community song contest where YOU submit the lyrics, and MEGA produces the music and video clip. The results will be premiered at a live public event, complete with judging and audience voting.
Nope! Just write the words and give your song a title.
MEGA will handle all production — music, vocals, video — behind the scenes.
Anything original: funny, heartfelt, political, weird, local, satirical, poetic. Just make sure it’s your own work. Keep it under 3 minutes in performance length.
Sure! You can suggest a style (e.g. ballad, disco, rock, synth-pop, opera) and we’ll do our best to match it.
Yes — up to 3 lyric entries per person or group.
We’ll produce a full music video and screen it at the big event. You’ll be credited as the writer, and possibly win an award! By entering, you give MEGA permission to produce and screen the song as part of this event. BUT you retain your rights to the lyrics.
A special Homage to LORDI the Eurovision Song Contest Winners in 2006 and who performed at Rock2Wgtn in 2008
The MEGA Management decided to write new lyrics and a new song based on this great heavy metal band as a demostration of one style, one genre and a lyrical script to poke a little fun at local politics. Just a little hint at what we are trying to create with Eastbourne Unplugged....... ENJOY!
